John Gregory Evans

October 13th, 1954 - August 8th, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Gregory Evans on 08/08/24 in Boise, ID.

John was born on 10/13/54 in Sharon, PA. He served in the U.S. Marines for a brief time before becoming a mechanic for the USAF until he retired.

He loved being a dad to Vanessa and was so proud of her accomplishments, most of all his two grandchildren.

An award-winning writer and published poet and photographer, John enjoyed woodworking, writing, bird watching, designing boats and spending time at home with Judy and their dog Paavo.

He is survived by Wife Judy, daughter Vanessa Batts (Matt), brother Mark Evans (Susan), sisters Jodi Mascorro (Tony) and Lori Davis, grandchildren Cameron and Sadie, as well as many nephews and a niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Connie Evans.

You were always there for me. The many conversations we had, the laughs we shared, the way you loved my kids... I still can't believe this is real. How can my big brother be gone? The only thing that gives me peace is knowing how full of joy you are to be with our Lord! How incredible that must be. Say hello to Moma and Daddy. My heart aches for you all.

A gentle soul, who loved his wife, So much that her portrayed her well, In photographs that showed her life, The love apparent, one could tell. Within her smile, he captured such A love beyond what most will ever know, I loved his creativity so much, And feel so sad that now he had to go. Into the arms of Jesus, and bent on my knees, I pray he left our Judith with rich memories. Rachel xxxx
