Betz, Rossi Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home - Gloversville
John Joseph Ferrara, II
July 22nd, 1982 - March 15th, 2023
John Joseph Ferrara II, a resident of Kingsboro Avenue in Gloversville, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at the age of 40. The son of Cathy Wallace (neé Quinn) and John Ferrara, both of Gloversville, John grew up in Fonda, NY. He was born on July 22, 1982 and was a graduate of Fonda-Fultonville High School. At the age of 17, John enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, transferring to the Army National Guard at the age of 21. John proudly made a career of his military service, actively working as a Supply NCO with several units throughout New York State. He served two tours in Afghanistan as part of the 2nd Battalion 108th Infantry Regiment in 2008 and in 2012. John was medically discharged and honorably retired from duty on July 13, 2022. At the time of his death, John was pursuing a college degree in Canine Training and Management. John is survived by his wife, Holly (neé Bucenec), his sons Jack and Chase, his daughter Quinn, all of Little Falls; his sister Kelly (Jeff) D’Annolfo (neé Ferrara) of Medina, Ohio; his mother and step-father, Cathy and James Wallace of Caroga Lake; his step-brother, Jason (Alison) Wallace of Fultonville; and numerous extended family. His family and friends will remember John most for his loving heart and infectious humor. No one loved or lived bigger than John Ferrara. He loved his family - especially his children - with everything he had, and his zest for life could light up any room. The Army was a big part of that family. His soldiers were his brothers and he was honored to serve with them. A service honoring John will take place on Monday March 20, 2023 at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. Visitation will be held from 9:00am-11:00am, with a service at 11:00am, followed by a military burial at Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
