Memorial

Obituary John Garrett was born October 15, 1956 and embarked upon his eternal journey with Jesus and his son, Kennith, October 6, 2015. John is survived by his wife, Debbie Garrett, his mother, Ellen Garrett, his sisters-in law, Melissa, Michelle, Tammy, brother-in-law, Doug, his "brothers" Rocky, John, and Rick, his "children," Beth, CJ, Mike, James B., Melaina, Emily, Ryan, James M., Brandon, Liz, Judy, Chris P., Alex, Ally, Jake, Chris M. (AKA Topher)., Yaro, and Andre, as well as numerous others that have been a part of his life. He is also survived by his "grandchildren", Vinny, Gabby, Lucas, Darrian, Landon, Magnolia, and soon-to-arrive Baby Islin, his nieces, Tara, Koryssa, and Kyla, and nephews Nathan, Tyler, Kandon, Connor, Brandon, Eric, and Kyle, as well as great-nieces Kinley, Kylie, and great-nephew Camden. He will also be remembered fondly by his best hunting buddy and dog, Sam. John was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, mentor, confidant, and role model. He taught us all strength, from losing his only child at the age of 18, to fighting a brave battle against cancer. He was a man who valued honesty, respect, perseverance, and humility above all. He taught his children to always be genuine and to give more than you receive. John was a constant giver, never asking for anything in return but true friendship. While sarcastic and witty, he was also a compassionate protector. His heart was full of unwavering love for his friends and family, for whom he would do anything. No matter whom you were, where you came from, how much you had, or where you were headed, John could relate to you. Everyone who had the pleasure of meeting John just once, smiled brightly because of him. How lucky are we that we get to call this man our friend, our family, and now our angel? We can only pray that he felt a small portion of the fulfillment we did, because he was in our lives. John impacted so many people throughout his life and he will certainly never be forgotten. He will live in our hearts forever and will continue to shape and mold the men and women we become because of the love he showed us, the lessons he taught us, and the respect he instilled in us. John, may your body finally find relief, may your loved ones smile when they think of you, and may we keep you close to our hearts until we meet again. We love you, we miss you, and we will always remember you. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016 in the West Wing Conference Room of the Olympic Training Center. Hunting, fishing, jeans, and casual attire should be worn. Services Olympic Training Center - West Wing Conference Room 1750 E Boulder St. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909
