John Anthony Gauna

Johnny "Anthony” Gauna, 70, of Greeley, passed away on May, 18, 2019 in Greeley. Anthony was born in Trinidad, Colorado to John & Elvira (Sandoval) Gauna on February 27, 1949. On January 19, 1972, in Boulder, Colorado, Anthony married his beloved wife, Lydia (Ybarra) Gauna. He was a hardworking man, spending most of his working life in construction, teaching all who walked in his shoes the value of hard work & dedication. Anthony was a loving role model… To sum it up, he was a grandfather that his grandchildren looked up to as a father figure. He was a father figure to many who called him dad, "Daddio”, and "The Baddest!” Anthony loved wrestling with all the kids, challenging them along the way, "Do you want a shot at the title!?” To everyone, his mantra was, "If I got it, you got it.” Anthony was a family man to the core. He enjoyed spending time with nature, his community, reading; jazz & reggae music. He will be remembered for the sporadic road trips, all of our adventures, long fishing trips, and "throwing back a couple of Buds”. Anthony is survived by his wife; children, Michael, Juan, and Angelica Gauna; 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patricia, Veronica, Lorenzo, Carlos, and Juaneva; and a large loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and several dearest friends. We know he is in a better place and at peace, joining great friends & waiting family. A Celebration of Life will be at 10:00amon Friday, June 21, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W Colorado Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
