John H. Goodwin

After a courageous battle with cancer, John H. Goodwin passed on July 15, 2016 in Albany, NY at the age of 73. John was born on August 13, 1942 in Saratoga Springs, NY to parents Harold and Helen Goodwin. John grew up in a large loving family with three brothers and seven sisters. He graduated from Glens Falls High School in 1961 after which he joined the US Air Force. After serving four years he went on to a career in public service where he worked as a police officer in Glens Falls and then in Baltimore. Later in life, John worked security detail for several racing associations and for the Detroit Tigers. After formal retirement, John enjoyed working part time for Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Funeral Home in Amsterdam, NY. John is survived by his loving partner and best friend Linda J. Gorka, his sons John (Wendy) and Kim, daughter Michelle, sister's Celia (Joseph) Monsour, Dale DeMartino, Helen (Donald) Sanders, Leila Gordon (Bernard) and a brother, Harold Goodwin (Catherine). Grandchildren Matthew and Haley, nieces and nephews, his beloved pets Roxy and Lucy and his extended family of co-workers at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes, Inc. John is predeceased by his brothers Frank and Richard and sisters Joyce, Patricia and Edna. The family would like to say a special thank you to his "Infusion Wives" at St. Mary's Hospital, Dr. Moti, Mayeline, Alex and all of our special friends and wonderful neighbors. Also to his nieces , Aprile Carlino and Lisa Leonard and especially to his son John whose daily calls and support meant more than you will ever know. Per John's wishes he has donated his body to medical research to further the fight against cancer. A Memorial Mass will be held Tuesday September 27, 2016 at 11:00AM at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church, Cornell St., Amsterdam, NY 12010. Burial will follow in Glens Falls, NY.
