John C. Hinman
June 29th, 1912 - March 8th, 2006
Mr. John C. Hinman Sr., age 93, of Gloversville, went to be with his loving wife on Wednesday evening, March 8, 2006, following a short illness. His death occurred at Wilkinson Residential Health Care Facility, Amsterdam, NY. He was born June 29, 1912 in Johnstown, the son of the late Edward and Elizabeth Goodwin Hinman. A 1932 graduate of Johnstown High School, he was employed at the former Coca Cola Bottling Company in Gloversville for more than 30 years. He was a life-time member of Pine Tree Rifle Club and a member of the Johnstown Eagles Aerie. An avid bowler, he had been inducted into the Fulton County Bowler?s Hall of Fame, and also enjoyed hunting. John was a member of the North Main Street United Methodist Church. John was married on June 5, 1937 to Margaret Van Dusen who died January 3, 2001. He is survived by three children, Jeanne A. Iavarone James of Amsterdam, John C. Hinman of Gloversville and Dennis W. Hinman Joanne of Gloversville; 9 grandchildren, Stacia, Amanda and Alyssa Hinman, Jason and Paul Hinman, James, Vincent and Michael Iavarone and Lisa Dufrense; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 nephews, Robert Hinman and John R. Hinman. His brother, Herbert R. Hinman predeceased him. The family will receive friends from 1 to 4 pm Saturday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at FernDale Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 7 Washington Square, Albany, NY 12205.
