John “Jack” Francis Hogan Jr. passed away on June 15, 2021 at the age of 86. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 30, 1935 to John Francis Hogan and Florence T. (McCluskey) Hogan. Jack grew up in West Roxbury, MA and graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1954. He was enlisted in the United States Army on July 12, 1954 and stationed in Hawaii. He was honorably discharged on June 20, 1956. After the Army, he attended Boston University and earned a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. After graduation he worked in Wyoming for McDonnell Douglas then moved to Denver, CO and worked for Martin Marietta. Jack was a restauranteur, entrepreneur and businessman for over 30 years owning several Denver area restaurants and bars including The Lemon Tree Lounge, Fridays and Saturdays, The Vail Restaurant and Bar, The Mad Russian, The Turn of the Century, The London House, The Canterbury Inn and Grand Slam Restaurants. He also owned a real estate development company in the 1980s. He was inducted into the Colorado Restaurant Association Hall of Fame in 1997. During his time in the restaurant business, he was active in raising money for the Special Olympics Colorado and inducted into the Special Olympics Colorado Hall of Fame in 1986 as Business Person of the year. Jack enjoyed sports, news, politics and technology. He took an invested interest in helping and impacting others. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, Angelina, Jack and Samantha. Jack found 32 years of sobriety and healing in the rooms of Alcoholics Anonymous. During that time, he helped countless others in their recovery. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his sister, June (Hogan) Mackies and nephew Ryan O.J. Hogan. He is survived by his sons, John (Michele) Hogan of Highlands Ranch, CO and Mark (Lisa) Hogan of Denver, CO and his grandchildren; Angelina Hogan, Jack Hogan IV and Samantha Hogan. His sisters, Janet Lund of Wrentham, MA, Carol (Robert) Giumetti of Needham, MA and Marylyn (Edward) Clegg of Standish, ME and his brother William (Melanie) Hogan of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of life, memorial service will be held at 3:00pm on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Mountainview Christian Church, 40 E. Highlands Ranch Pkwy, Highlands Ranch, CO 80126. All are welcome! Reception following at the church. He will be laid to rest, in a private ceremony, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO.
