John Michael Jorgenson
March 25th, 1942 - December 18th, 2022
Long time Tacoma Resident Mike Jorgenson passed away peacefully at Valley Medical Center in Renton on December 18th. Born John Michael Jorgenson, Mike grew up in Tacoma and attended grade school in Vancouver Canada. He learned the optical business working for his family’s Jorgenson Optical company, and eventually went to work for Costco, where he managed the entire optical lab and manufacturing facility producing glasses for all of the Costco warehouses. With a perpetual curiosity for how things work, Mike loved to tinker and build things from full-size airplane replicas, to kayaks, sail boats, and motorboats. He was always happy to share his knowledge with others and was quick to lend a hand on any project. He enjoyed adventures in the Pacific Northwest and Canada and trips to Mexico with his friends and family. Above all, he was kind, generous and always willing to offer his time, talent, and support to people in need. He is survived by his wife Devi, his daughters, Amy Jorgenson-Fahey, Betsy Jorgenson, Tina Bartruff, April Heins, his Grand children Kyler, Cooper, Giabella, Ashley, Katlin, and great grand children Natalia and Jayden. A celebration of life will be held on January 28th from 1:00 to 3:00 at Des Moines Beach Park. Des Moines Beach Park Dining Hall 22030 Cliff Ave S Des Moines WA 97198
