John Thomas Lennon, 90, of Colfax, NC passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
A native of Queens, NY, John was the husband of 69 years to Phyllis Joan Limpus Lennon and the son of Thomas Lennon and Mabel Levy Lennon, both deceased.
John proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Navy, most of that time spent serving on the submarine USS Greenfish (SS-351) stationed at Naval Station Pearl Harbor, in Honolulu, Hawaii where he met and married Phyllis in 1955. From that point on, John & Phyllis moved from coast to coast over the years and traveled all over the world having one adventure after the other while raising four children.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; two daughters, Debbie Lennon, and Tracy Huff and husband, Kevin; two sons, Ron Lennon and Andy Lennon; five grandchildren, Maddy Lennon, Alyssa Huff, Brian Huff, Josh Lennon, and Mackenzie Lennon; one sister, Laura Booker; and one brother, Tom Lennon.
The family will greet friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday, August 12, 2024, at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral Services Kernersville Chapel.
Funeral services celebrating John’s life will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Main Street United Methodist Church, Kernersville, NC. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to dad’s favorite charity, Gary Sinise Foundation, Brightspire Foundation (directed to River Landing at Sandy Ridge), or to the charity of your choice.
