John was a personal friend and fellow veteran whose patriotism and love of country honors us all. He was perhaps the most dedicated, hard working individual I've ever met. He demonstrated profound courage and perseverance in facing the challenges he did in the last years of his life. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy of the officer and gentleman that he was.

John was our neighbor for many years, and was always asking if anyone needed assistance during storms or bad weather. Right before his passing I received yet another NASA storm update from him, something he continued to do even after moving from our community a few years ago. Always remember seeing him running down Turtlemound Rd, rain or shine. I'll miss this true gentleman, hard worker and fellow Air Force veteran.

Good-bye to a true friend and perfect liaison within the East Central Florida Weather Community. John was an excellent leader and well respected by his peers. His absence is already being felt here at the local NWS Melbourne Weather Office. His guiding influence will be missed both professionally and personally. Rest easy beyond the stars, my friend.

Very sad to learn of the passing of our dear friend and great neighbor John. We would often see each other in the very ewe hours of the morning as he was an avid runner. His weather reports were golden and there was never a weather event without John's accurate forecast! We always enjoyed seeing John. Several years ago when John retired from the Air Force we had the pleasure of attending a party in his honor. The list of dignitaries that honored John that evening was phenomenal. Tiffany, your dad made a huge impact in this life and we are so thankful that we got to know him. Please know that he is in our prayers and will not be forgotten. Our sincere condolences to the entire family.

August 15th was the "DAY JESUS CALLED" John home to be with Him and all the SAINTS forever! This is the feast of the ASSUMPTION OF MOTHER MARY into heaven. I am SURE that when John stood before Jesus THAT DAY, Mother Mary was at his side SMILING as John was asked, "What did you DO for the least of my children?" (AKA: The True MASTER'S TEST) Here ten days later... John's GUARDIAN ANGEL is probably still reading off that list to Jesus as the LIFE HE LIVED of helping SAVE our UNBORN Brothers and Sisters will be one of HIS HIGHEST HONORS. "I can only imagine"... him getting TO MEET & be welcomed in a line up by EACH CHILD he longed to...and tried to save by his sacrifices offered up! They probably are still one by one giving him hugs and WELCOMING HIM HOME to his reward !!! No doubt that the Lord cried out "WELL DONE MY AWESOME AND FAITHFUL SERVANT! COME ON IN AND RECEIVE YOUR REWARDS"!!! We're all proud of him, as a HERO in the highest battle! "RESCUING MOMS & THEIR UNBORN BABIES AND GIVING THEM HOPE!" Pray for us John... that WE PERSEVERE as you did, until the very end, as YOU WERE and ARE STILL a "Truly Soldier" in Mary's Army and trust she escorted you on her FEAST DAY of August 15th... before the awesome presence of her Son to receive your great eternal inheritance!!! We will miss you! Pray 4us, as we pray 4you!!!

I'm very saddened to learn of Johns passing. He will be missed. He was a true example of what it meant to be a Catholic Christian. His love for the unborn and his work in the Prolife community will be a legacy to him. He was an Officer and a Gentleman in every sense of the word. His work in the AF and NASA communities will not be forgotten. I remember Jenna telling us she was told to "get out of town" when a big storm approached and we all knew to "Run"....as John had told us to LOL He was a friend, a leader, a wonderful Father and Husband...and we miss him. Jenna, Tiffany...My love and prayers are with you. Debbie and Jeff

John was a neighbor, friend, and fellow parishioner. We knew him as a man of great passion for any cause he believed in -- someone who always gave 110%. He was a leader with good sense of humor. We are grateful to have known him and will miss him, especially where there is a hurricane threatening.

I had the pleasure of working with John for over 20 years, he was the very best, as good as it gets. We, together with all the CSR, 45WS, and NASA folks, accomplished many great things on the Range. John had a huge part in the history that was made here. In addition to his technical excellence, he was kind, patient, and caring toward all those who worked with him, and we will miss him greatly. May his family and many friends take comfort in happy memories. Fly high, John.

My Sincere condolences to Colonel Madura's family. I am very sadden by the loss of Col Madura. He was one of the good guy's. I worked along side of him when he was Weather Commander for the 45 Weather Squadron, during the Shuttle Days. Ironically, Col Madura also served with my older brother Maj Clifford Rudy, while assigned at Offuitt. My brother sends his condolences, also. Col Madura was a respected officer and always a gentleman and Christian in dealing with his counterparts. The Air Force family has lost an awesome individual. May God comfort the entire Madura family during this time of grief. I personally know that time will not heal this loss for The Madura family, but time will allow you to cope each day a little bit better. Remember those good memories. Those will keep you going when those days are tough. Again, May God Bless the Madura family. Col. John Madura, USAF (ret) :"Rest in Peace" Say hi to another WX officer CWO-4 B. U. Rudy when you are their in Heaven.

John sat with my family every Sunday morning at 10:15 mass at Our Saviour's Catholic Church and we'd visit afterwards. He'd tell us about the good play or movie he saw the night before and catch up on life. He treated my 93 yr-old mom sweetly and visited her when she moved to assisted living. He was an inspiration in living life fully and thoughtfully and he will always be with us.

John was a good friend and mentor for almost 30 years. He meant a lot not only to his family, but also to his Air Force and NASA families. He did so much for our Nation's space program, it could not be put into words in a short message. And most of all, he was a devout Christian. He is with our Lord now, but he will surely be missed by all of us who knew him. Till we meet again, John, God speed.

John was a great friend and mentor -- always willing to discuss, debate and provide advice on any challenge -- large or small. His comprehensive knowledge of weather, space launch and operations was critical to the Nation's recovery from some of the setbacks the space program suffered in the 1990s. I will miss his warm and welcoming interaction.
