John Robert "Bob" McClure, age 89, passed away on March 9, 2015 at Novant Health Presbyterian M.C., Charlotte, NC. Bob was born on September 20, 1925 in Gastonia, NC to the late William Arthur McClure and Alda Green McClure. After the death of his father, Bob's family moved to Boiling Springs, NC, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Dodd. Bob attended Geyers Business School and worked for Universal Pictures before serving in the US Navy at Pearl Harbor during WWII. After returning from the Navy, he attended Gardner Webb College and later moved to Charlotte where he started his own business, Charlotte Film Co. He continued booking and distributing motion pictures to theater owners in North and South Carolina until he retired in 2007. Bob was an avid sports fan, loved playing golf, and he and his wife enjoyed traveling in the states and abroad. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Becky; sister's Ollie Lou Wall and Martha Raxter, and brother Bill McClure. Bob is survived by his three daughters, Wanda Granger and her husband Richard, of Florence, SC, Debbie Heise and her husband Joe, of Mooresville, NC and Robyn Hoppe and her husband Allan, of Charlotte, NC; six grandchildren, Breck Granger, Brandon Granger and his wife Jessica, Kara Heise, Bryan Heise, Allyson Hoppe and Jonathon Hoppe; four great-grandchildren, Parson, Lilah, Sawyer and Easton Granger. Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, 1111 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203, with Bob's brother-in-law, Rev. Robert Dodd officiating. Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 1:00PM, and interment will be immediately following the service at Forest Lawn East Cemetery, 3700 forest Lawn Drive, Matthews, NC 28104.
