John R. McMenemy
August 30th, 1946 - August 23rd, 2013
John R McMenemy, ""the builder who loves houses,"" 66, formally of Leicester and Worcester MA passed away August 23, 2013 at his home in Melbourne FL. He was born in Westfield MA, the son of Walter and Elizabeth (Stumpf) McMenemy. John graduated from Leicester High School and Worcester State College in Massachusetts. He taught school in Leicester and Oxford MA before going into business for himself as a builder of beautiful homes in Worcester County. The most notable homes are in Leicester, Worcester and Holden. In retirement he pursued his love of art by sculpting some amazing work and continued using flowers to create a beautiful landscape around his home. He loved his family. He leaves his wife of 40 years, that's me, Barbara (Dentch) McMenemy of Melbourne, FL. John was a wonderful husband and father. He created some beautiful homes and works of art but always considered his best creations to be his son and daughter, Mike and Mary. He leaves a son and his fiancée, Maggie Lawrence. That's me, Michael McMenemy, of Leicester, MA, I've always been told that I'm the spitting image of my father - a fact I couldn't see for myself until I grew up. I'll always try to be as truthful as he was, to express myself as openly as he did with his artwork and his honest affection for his family, to work hard, think, be a creator, and make him and my Mother proud of everything I do. I'll miss the way we could joke, argue, and wind up agreeing all in the same conversation. He also leaves a daughter, that's me, Mary McMenemy-Hoang, of Melbourne, FL. Along with his passion for teaching he leaves me with my husband BeMong Hoang and his three adorable grandchildren, Tyler, Eva and Fiona. We will all miss him dearly. Contributions in his memory may be made to Wuesthoff Hospice House. Make checks in his memory payable to Dr. Jey Pillai Hospice House and send to Wuesthoff Brevard Hospice and Palliative Care, 8060 Spyglass Hill Rd., Viera, Fl 32940. A memorial service will be held at O'Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, MA on September 28, 2013 at 11am. You may sign John's guest book at www.beckmanwilliamson.com
