John Michaels

John Michaels was greeted by his Savior on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. He leaves behind his wife, Dianna, children Brian, Keith, and Kristin. He was preceded in death by his parents,Michael & Jennie Impeduglia and his brother, Michael St. John. John was a grandfather of 9 and great grandfather of one. Born in Massachusetts on May 19, 1942, John served in the US Navy and graduated from Florida State University. After working for the National Hurricane Research Lab, his work for the Government took him to Washington, D.C. to automate the National Weather Service and ultimately to Las Vegas where he was assigned with the Department of Energy for nuclear weapons testing. John left his career in 1983 to enter ministry. In 1986, he founded Calvary Chapel Spring Valley in Las Vegas. Pastor John's heart was to reach people with the love of Jesus throughout the world. He oversaw work in Asia, particularly the Philippines, training pastors. His mission efforts reached mainly Southeast Asia, India and Mexico. Pastor John served faithfully in pastoral ministry for over 30 years. His goal in life was to know Jesus and to make Him known and he did that with his whole heart & soul, and ultimately, with all of his strength. A celebration of his life will take place with a Memorial Service to be held at Calvary Chapel Spring Valley, 7175 West Oquendo Rd. at 6 pm on Tuesday, August 6th. The service will be followed by an international reception in his honor and will be live-streamed on www.ccspringvalley.org.
