John Beeman Moore
June 12th, 1929 - March 14th, 2015
Obituary On Saturday, March 14, our beloved "Doc" peacefully passed from this world into the company of Heaven. A native son of Fort Collins, Jack was born June 12, 1929 to Joe and Freda Moore. Upon graduation from Fort Collins High School, he became a "Jack of all trades" including appliance repair, machinist, and maintenance technician until he married Mary Margaret Nichols on January 7, 1951. The newlyweds ran a ranching operation near Livermore before going into the dairy business with his father-in-law. Jack and Mary raised three sons on the farm for over 15 years before he made a courageous decision to return to Colorado State University to pursue a degree in Veterinary Medicine at the age of 32. Jack continued dairy farming milking 150 cows twice a day while carrying a full course load in vet school - no small feat in addition to taking time to enjoy an active family. Graduating with his DVM degree in 1968, he opened Moore Animal Hospital, and practiced for 32 years before retiring in 2000. The "Doc" left a legacy of compassionate care for his four-legged clients, and demonstrated utmost integrity, honor, and decency in his professional and personal life. Jack was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and as Junior Warden for building and grounds for seven years. After his wife Mary's death in 2003, he married Bev Newton on April 30, 2005, and gained another family who dearly loved his humor and kind heart. He is survived by his wife Bev, sons Randy (Judi), Cal (Lanny), and Brad (Pamela) Moore; 7 grandchildren: Nathan, Randi Lee, Emily, Jackie, Samuel, Daniel, and Jennifer; 10 great grandchildren: Elijah, Arianna, Maceo, Drew, Haley, Cody, Addison, Nick, Justin, Troy, Nathan, and Kyler. Jack is also survived by his second family: Jim (Lynn) Newton, Stacey (Steve) Lewis, granddaughters Lindsay, and Brandy (Nate) Fall and great grandson Brycen. A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held Monday, March 23 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 2000 Stover St. A light dessert reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests, if you choose, memorial gifts be made to St. Luke's Episcopal Church, in care of Vessey Funeral Service.
