John Landrum Padgett II
February 2nd, 1948 - February 25th, 2014
On Tuesday, February 25, 2014, John Landrum Padgett II passed from those who loved him, on to those that were waiting for him. He was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia on February 2, 1948, but grew up in Florida. He returned from military service in 1969, one of the two survivors of his Marine Unit stationed in Da Nang during the Tet Offensive, one of the largest military campaigns of the Vietnam War. He met and was married for 33 years to the love of his life, Sherry Horton. They lived in Charlotte, North Carolina until her death in 2003. He was a men's clothing buyer for Belk Stores, retiring in 2004. He was an avid golfer, wine connoisseur and had a great sense of wit and humor. He moved to Viera to be closer to his family. His father, Lt. Col. John L. Padgett, precedes John in death. He is survived by his Mother, Dee Anderson of Satellite Beach, sisters; Martha L. Kirby of Satellite Beach, Katherine Miller Fadul (Tom) of Pembroke Pines, Fl , Maria Miller Spencer (Mark) of Ann Arbor, MI and his beloved nieces and nephews, Rose, Thomas, Ashley, Eric, Irene and Ryan. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, March1st at 10:30 AM at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church with a reception to follow. A burial mass will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina at a later date, with his inurnment in Winchester, Kentucky.
