John Henry Paulson

John Henry Paulson, age 81, born February 5, 1933 died June 8, 2016. John was born at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Manhattan, NY. Raised in the Bronx with his mother Katherine, father John H. Paulson Sr. and sister June. Attended St. Frances of Rome Catholic Grammar School and graduated from Cardinal Hayes Catholic High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1951 during the Korean Conflict and spent four years as a flight crewmember on a Navy Patrol Bomber. After being honorably discharged from the service, he lived with his wife and children in Long Island, NY for 21 years before moving to Rio Rancho, NM. He joined the NYCPD in 1956 and retired in 1977 with the rank of Sergeant, Supervisor of Detectives. He was a member of an elite organization within the police department known as the "Honor Legion" whose members were from all ranks and were awarded the highest medals for outstanding heroism and police work. He was also the recipient of the N.Y. State Red Cross Life Saving Award in 1967. He leaves behind his loving wife of 63 years Alice R. Paulson, son John Thomas Paulson, granddaughters Jenna Marie and Nicole Paulson, daughter Alice Grinstead and family, nephew Michael Peco and Denise Jenks of Long Island, cousins William and Angela Mueller of City Island, sister in law Dorothy Krantz of Cape Cod Massachusetts, niece Susan Vitolo and Linda Anderson of the Bronx, and Kristen Garcia of Rio Rancho. A mass and celebration of life will be held Wednesday June 22nd 2016 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Rio Rancho, NM. His cousin, Deacon, William Mueller will give the hominy.
