Kathleen, GA: John Phillips, 74, passed away on April 4, 2010. Mr. Phillips was born in Columbus, OH on March 29, 1936 to the late Frederic C. and Helen Pennell Phillips. Mr. Phillips was a 1958 graduate of Ohio State University with a degree in journalism. Mr. Phillips worked for newspapers in the Midwest, CA, Wash. D.C. Mr. Phillips retired from the Washington Post sports department in 1996. Survivors include his wife Margaret: son John Vicki of Perry: daughter Courtney of Santiago, Chile: granddaughter Kamryn Phillips: sister Rosemary Becker Maurice of Glendale, CA: nephews Gary Kolar of Atlanta, Douglas Becker of Lake Forest, CA: niece Cynthia Becker-Ebstein of San Francisco, CA: and eight great nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests that donations be made to Southern Care, Inc., 3212 Northside Dr., Bldg. D, Suite 150, Macon, GA, 31210. All services will be private. Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
