March 27th, 1927 - April 2nd, 2014
Reider, John J, 87, passed away on April 2, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He resided in St. Petersburg for the last 46 years. He was a graduate of the University of Rochester, N.Y.; and served honorably in the U.S. Navy for 4 years. He had a long and successful career with the Western Auto Company. Upon retirement, he opened the Den of Antiquity Tavern and was proprietor for 8 years. He was a past member of Loyal Order of Moose and served as governor of the Carpentersville, ILL Lodge. He was a member of the American Legion Post 14, St. Petersburg, FL. John enjoyed the pastimes of bowling, traveling and watching the Tampa Bay Rays, Buccaneers and Lightning. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Ann and his son Kenneth (Lois) Reider and daughter, Carol (Rick) Moran, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed. In his wallet he carried the following quotes: "Every man's life ends the same way, and it is only the details of how he lived and how he died that distinguishes one man from the other."
