Flahiff Funeral Chapels & Crematory-Caldwell
John William Riddle
December 15th, 1954 - March 21st, 2021
Johnny, Ranger Riddle, Johnny Dollar, Teepee John, Uncle John, Grandpa, Dad. John William Riddle, 66, of McCall, Idaho passed away on Sunday, March 21st. John was born on December 15, 1954 in Nampa, Idaho to Jackie Lynn Riddle and John Richard Riddle. John traveled extensively throughout Alaska, Arizona, California, Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Nevada, Washington, Wyoming, Mexico and Canada, working in the fields of cement masonry, carpentry, surveying, metal shop, assembly line, forestry, farming, shipping & receiving, quality control and white water rafting work all before he was 30 years old. After the birth of his son, he worked in Los Angeles at Astrophysics Research Corporation in Quality Control and in Othello, WA. at Chef Ready/McCain Foods as a Supervisor. Most recently he became the resident Ranger at Camp Morrison in McCall, Idaho for Mountain West Council. As you can see, this position was a perfect fit for John, who was good at everything and the best at anything in the outdoors. John’s musical journey started while a student at Caldwell High School when he picked up the acoustic guitar. He first played bass guitar when asked by musical legend John Fogerty to join a jam session in Troy, Oregon and later played bass professionally in a rock cover band, ‘Rattled’ and the blues band ‘Robin and the Blues Hoods’. After moving to McCall, John decided to return to mastering his Taylor acoustic guitar and joined Tom Chapman to become ‘Wisdom and Wonder’ for the last 8 years. John will be missed by his son John P. Riddle, wife Cynthia and grandson Ian. John is survived by his sister Marjie Tucker, her husband Paul Tucker and their four sons, and sister Pam Hagbom, her two daughters and son, along with a constellation of friends and other close family. John loved all nature and conservancy was so important to him, and he cherished visiting his “happy place” in Hawaii. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate in John’s name to https://www.wildhawaii.org/donate/ or a charity of your choosing. Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 2, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Canyon Hill Cemetery in Caldwell.
