Riter, John Steven 60, of St. Petersburg, passed Monday, March 1, 2010, at Woodside Hospice. Steve was born in Fort Madison, Iowa and was a graduate of Anderson College and Central Weslyan University. He was a dedicated special education teacher for 33 years. He was preceded in death by his father, John Robert Riter and sisters, Elizabeth and Sandra Riter. Steve is survived by his wife, Pamela Marie of St. Petersburg; daughter and son-in-law, Bianca and Mark Dyar of Belton, SC; daughter, Christina Gibson of St. Petersburg; 3 grandchildren, Brianna, Ethan and Evan Dyar; mother and step-father, Betty and Everett VanAusdall of Ft. Madison; and sisters Susan VanWye of Iowa City, Sally Shepardson of North Liberty, Sonya Kester of Ft. Madison and Sheila Weiss of Burlington. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the American Cancer Society.
