Shanklin, John H., 86, passed away November 2, 2014. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a deacon and member of Elizaville Presbyterian Church. He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat Fan and a member of the Sun City Center Lawn Bowling Club. Survivors include his wife of 20 years, Virginia; two daughters, Mollie S. (David) Appelman and Lori S. Throckmorton; a brother, Dr. James Day Shanklin, three grandchildren, Andrew (Erika) Appelman, Amy Appelman and Clark Throckmorton, three step children, Stephen (Annie) Oakley, Lynn (Randy) Marx and Keith (Colleen) Oakley, six step grandchildren, Michelle Marx, Melissa (Andy) Phillips, Lara (Tom) Whah, Brandon Oakley, Ryan (Camille) Oakley and John(Andrea) Oakley, five step great grandchildren, Brayden and Brantley Phillips, Alyssa Whah and Rayn and Tobin Oakley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sun City Center Lawn Bowling Club 1009 N Pebble Beach Blvd, Sun City Center, Fla 33573 or St Andrew Presbyterian Church, 1239 Del Webb Blvd West, Sun City Center, Fla.
