Shoemaker, John, 69, of St. Petersburg, died Monday October 22, 2001 at home. Born in Chicago, IL, he became a resident here in September of 1999 from Cary, IL. He retired from National Wood Window and Door Manufacturers Association in Park Ridge, IL, where he was the Executive Vice President. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, and an avid golfer. He served as a Sea Towers Board Member in the Heritage Building in St. Petersburg. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Arlene of St. Petersburg, two sons, David of Naperville, IL and Richard of Austin, TX, daughter, Diane Kathrein of Cary, IL, two sisters, Susan Krause-Liebman of New York, NY, and Betty Kupfer of Westfield, NJ, three grandchildren, Colin and Austin both of Crystal Lake. IL and Laura Kathrein of Cary, IL. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Florida Suncoast.
