To the Friends and family of John C. Sims Jr., John Charles Sims Jr., 78, a resident of Phoenix, Arizona died on Monday, November 14, 2016 at Banner Thunderbird Medical Center. John was born to John Charles Sims Sr. and Ruby May Terrell in Tallapoosa Georgia on September 4, 1938. He married Nelda †œJune†� Oglesby of Waycross Georgia in 1959. They were blessed with 1 Son. He spent 8 years in the Navy as an Air craft Mechanic Stationed in Norfolk, Virginia for 4 years and Jacksonville, Florida for 4 more years. In 1966 he married Phyllis †œFaith†� Needham from Hobbs New Mexico in Lakewood, Colorado. They were blessed with 4 children. In Denver, he was a Forklift Operator Dock Worker for various companies; the last being North West Transport. He enjoyed working with kids as a Sunday school teacher, crafts, bicycling, camping, and helping with †œCamp Fire†� girls. His hobby was bowling. After retiring, he volunteered at Set Free Prison Ministries for 10 years. He is survived and is lovingly remembered by his wife Phyllis †œFaith†�, son Gregory Steven Sims of Waycross Georgia, son John Sims III, daughter Lucinda (Sims) McColler, son Jeff Sims, daughter Chantel (Sims) Schindler, and 11 grandchildren, all residing in Colorado. Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Fort Logan Nation Cemetery Denver, Colorado, staging area B at 10:15 am. Serving as pallbearers will be John Sims III, Jeff Sims, Cody Healy, Austin Schindler, Cole Schindler and Austin Bess. A gathering of friends and family will be held after service at Set Free Southwest Bible Chapel 5260 W Florida Ave, Lakewood, CO 80232.
