John Michael "Chicky" Slachtovsky
November 12th, 1946 - November 2nd, 2019
John Michael Slachtovsky, Chicky, of 6175 State Hwy. 30, in Amsterdam NY, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2019 at River Ridge Living Center. Born on November 12, 1946 to John and Josephine (Gomula) Slachtovsky, John was a graduate of Amsterdam high school and went on to receive licensure in General Contracting and Carpentry.. He was married to Charlotte (Marrone) Slachtovsky on November 4, 1978, until her passing in January of 2003. His loves in life were his wife and daughter above all things. John loved his motorcycle as well as fishing and his work. He faithfully served his community for over 45 years and was well respected amongst his peers. He leaves behind his loving family, including his daughter; Jenniffer Slachtovsky, her long-time friend; James Howard Weidaw III, and his grandsons; James Howard IV, and John Michael Chriton Weidaw. He is predeceased by his wife, Charlotte, as well as his parents, John and Josephine. Funeral services will be conducted on November 8, 2019 at 9:00AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam with Father O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. Interment will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Amsterdam, NY. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on November 7, 2019 from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
