John J Spallin

John J. Spallin, age 76, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2018. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and dedicated friend. John was born in the Bronx, NY on September 25, 1942 to John and Margaret Spallin. He lived in the Bronx, Yonkers, Haverstraw, New Fairfield (CT), Highland Mills, Garnerville and eventually retired to Naples, Florida for sunshine and increased golf time. John graduated from John Jay College with a degree in law enforcement. He was a dedicated police officer for the New York City Transit for 21 years. He retired in 1988 as a Lieutenant. He then worked for 20 years at Yellow Freight. John loved spending time outdoors, especially on the golf course. He was an avid and talented golfer. He also loved hunting, fishing, gardening, skiing, and taking long scenic walks. He was also known as a “Mr. Fix It” as he loved working on household projects. He also enjoyed restoring his antique Ford Galaxy with nephew Joseph Januzzi. He was a member of the Elks club. John is survived by his loving wife Susan Spallin. He is also survived by his sister Ann Piccini (Ralph Piccini), and his daughters Michelle Mazzella (Sal Mazzella), Kimberly Van Tassel, Danielle Spallin (Alan Flynn) and son John Spallin (and family). He was a grandfather to Brandon, Matthew and Dylan. He is joined in Heaven with his parents John and Margaret Spallin, sisters Elizabeth Wilkinson and Maureen Gordon, and countless friends and family. The family will receive friends & relatives on Monday, October 8, 2018 from 2pm – 4pm and 7pm – 9pm at the TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY.
