JOHN H SQUIRE COLONEL (Ret), U. S. ARMY [January 25, 1936 – March 31, 2017] Colonel John H. Squire of Glenn Dale, Maryland departed this life on Friday, March 31, 2017, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born and raised in Charleston, S. C. He graduated from South Carolina State University in 1958 and entered the U. S. Army where he served for 30 years, retiring in 1988. Colonel Squire also served on the Prince George’s County Park and Planning Commission for several years. Viewing will be held on Friday, April 7, 2017 from 9 to 11:45 am at the Takoma Park Seventh-day Adventist Church located at 6951 Carroll Avenue, Takoma Park, MD., with the service to begin at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the U.S. Dream Academy (usdreamacademy.org). U.S. Dream Academy is a non-profit organization which mentor’s children with a parent who is incarcerated. The office is headquartered in Columbia, MD, where Colonel Squire served on the Board of Directors for several years. Funeral arrangements by Advent Funeral & Cremation Services in Lanham, MD.
