"Springfield- John J. Wallace, 94, a life long resident passed away October 15, 2008 at Wachusett Manor Nursing Home in Gardner, MA. Born in Lee, MA on August 8, 1914, he was the son of the late William and Elizabeth (Stephenson) Wallace. Mr. Wallace retired in 1979, as a tool maker from US Envelope in Springfield where he worked for many years. He previously worked for Westinghouse and Gilbert & Barker, as well as ran a nursery in Springfield. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Springfield. He was predeceased by his wife Helen (Garvey) Wallace in 2005. He is survived by three children: Barbara Barash and her husband Don of Kentfield, CA, Mary Baltren of Belchertown her fiancé Edward Blanchard of Hubbardston and John Wallace, Jr. and his wife Amparo of Mclean, VA. He also leaves two sisters-in-law Lee Wallace of Belchertown and Grace Wallace of Indian Orchard, ten grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held on November 1st at 11:30 a.m. at St. Francis Church with burial to follow in South Cemetery. A calling hour will precede the funeral from 10:00-11:00 at the Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. Donations may be made in his memory to Baystate VNA & Hospice, 50 Maple St., Springfield, MA."
