John Whitlock
February 17th, 1929 - January 12th, 2021
John Lloyd Whitlock was born February 17, 1929, to Mertie and James Presley Whitlock in Uniontown, PA. He was the ninth of ten children, and the last surviving sibling. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Force in 1947. He spent 24 years serving his country rising to the rank of Sr. Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he worked for Maricopa County as a building safety inspector. John was at his happiest roaming the wilderness, hunting and fishing. He was known for a good joke, a silly song, strong, loving support, and acceptance of everyone. In 1950 he married the love of his life, Mary Ethel Colby of Bard, CA. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family in June of 2020. John passed away January 12, 2021, just short of his 92 birthday. John was preceded in death by his oldest son, John Michael Whitlock. John is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters Carol Eagan, Laurel North (Steve); son Paul A. Whitlock (Wendy); daughter-in-law Debbie Whitlock-Roush; grandchildren Derek North, Valissa Mathewson (Wes), Justin North (Alyssa), Avril Anders (Brandon), Matthew Whitlock (Amy), Michael Whitlock (Andrea), Nathan Whitlock, and Ruthie Whitlock. He was also blessed with a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and many, many dear friends. He was a member of Desert Heritage Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Desert Heritage Church, 1020 N. Horne Street, Mesa, AZ 85203. TBA, TBA,
