It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Johnathon “Johnny” Michael Holmes, who left us unexpectedly due to a motorcycle accident on September 28, 2024, in Thorndike, MA. Born on October 23, 2002, in Northampton, MA, Johnny's life, though brief, was marked by his vibrant personality, resilient spirit, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones.

Johnny was the beloved son of Robert Holmes of Greenfield and JoAnn (Twomley) Holmes of Bondsville. He was a loving brother to Victoria Alley and her significant other, Alex Zabnicki of Ware, and Zachary Holmes of Templeton. He was a caring uncle to his nephew Damien Alley of Ware. Johnny shared a special bond with family friend Jessica Wiseman and had a deep affection for animals, especially his cherished cat, Cowboy.

Johnny received his early education in Belchertown before attending the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts School for 7th to 9th grade. He graduated from Pathfinder Regional High School, where he studied auto body collision repair. During his high school years, Johnny was also a dedicated member of the wrestling team.

A true “Gear Head” at heart, Johnny's passion for anything with a motor was evident. He loved go-karts, dirt bikes, motorcycles, Ford and Dodge pickup trucks, and Mustang cars. His love for country music was paired with his self-taught guitar skills. Known for his dry sense of humor, mischievous nature, and readiness to lend a hand, Johnny embodied the spirit of a true joker and wiseass.

For the past two years, Johnny worked diligently in the maintenance department at Gavitt Wire & Cable Company in West Brookfield. His commitment to his work was appreciated by his colleagues.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00-6:30 pm, followed by a service at 6:30 pm at Beers & Story Belchertown Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Johnny's memory to an Animal Shelter of your choice, reflecting his love for animals.

Johnny’s presence will be sorely missed, but his spirit and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
