Johnnie W. Barton

A celebration of life service for Johnnie W. Barton, 63, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Trinity Church, 1501 Hallbrook Drive, Columbia, SC 29209. Officiating the service will be Reverend Warren Parker and Reverend Terry Roberts. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Lexington Medical Center Oncology Department, 2720 Sunset Blvd., West Columbia, SC 29169. Woodridge Funeral Home is assisting the family. Mr. Barton passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012. Born in Tulsa, OK, he was a son of Charlotta Payne Barton and the late John J. Barton. He was a graduate of Centennial High School, Pueblo, CO in 1967; and attended the University of Southern Colorado until drafted in 1969. Mr. Barton proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he did two tours of Vietnam. Surviving is his mother, Charlotta P. Barton; his loving wife of 31 years, Jeannette L. Barton of Lexington; daughters, Julee Garrison (Don), Nichole Kent (Michael) and Hannah Weir-Barton; sister, Linda Martin (Lanny); brothers, Tommy Barton (Louise), Alvin Barton (Trula), Dennis Barton and Ken Barton (Pam); four grandchildren, Corey Garrison, Breanne Garrison, Amber Garrison and Elizabeth Rae Kent. Mr. Barton was preceded in death by his son, Johnnie Ray Barton.
