Joilene "Joi" Zarah Avila
March 2nd, 1999 - April 6th, 2024
On Saturday April 6, 2024 Joilene Zarah Avila (Joi) loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and friend received her manual for the recently deceased at the age of 25 years old. Joi was born on March 2, 1999 in Albuquerque NM. Survived by, Dad Larry and Step-mom Michele; Mom Doreen and Darrell; Brother Lawrence and wife Courtney niece Layla; Sister Jessica and Michael nieces Mellody, Annalise and Nephews, Osiris, Jedidiah, and Aidan; Brother Darren Avila. Grandparents Martha Morgan, Rodger, and Marla Avila. Aunties Deidre Sena and DeAndra and Cory Archuleta and cousins Nichole and Alicia Avila Monique Sena, Riley, Alexander, and Ezra Archuleta. As a little girl Joi had plenty of sweet nick names, she was her grandpa’s angel and was well known as Joi-Joi. As she grew older she quickly corrected us “Its just Joi” but to her family she will always be our “Happy Happy Joi Joi” In her early years, Joi cheered for the West Mesa Mustangs for her brothers and later joined the flag football team. Joi was a straight A student all 12 years graduated top of her class as Valedictorian and later received her Child Development Associates certificate at KinderCare. As little as Joi was her big personality shined in the security field for 3 years and she later spent her time at the animal humane society fostering and helping cats and dogs get adopted. Joi was a beautiful free spirited and outspoken individual. She loved her family dearly and was the first person to ask to hold the newest members. She spent her time creating resin art and collecting bones, and teeth to place in ear gauges and earrings, coasters, and hair clips. She loved sewing and creating Punk vests for herself and her nephews. Through her love of stickers that she collected any place she visited she personalized her environment and all of her belongings. She played bass and drums and loved attending the annual Wasteland festival in California. In her free time, she loved making TikTok’s, dancing, and singing with her friends. Joi was beautiful both inside and out, she did some free lance modeling, she always had gorgeous creative, expressive, and colorful makeup and was well known for her lime green hair. After graduation Joi explored the west coast with her friends and visited her sister Jessica in Portland for the birth of her nephew Jedidiah. She fell in love with Portland and moved across country with be with Jessica and her nephews. Due to coronavirus “Covid-19” she moved back home. Although moving back wasn’t in the plan but we’re forever thankful for the last 4 years she spent at home in Albuquerque. Joi was preceded in death by her Uncles Orlando Sena and Chris Avila and grandparents Alex Morgan and Isabell Haulman. Her life will be celebrated in the most non-traditional way as Joi was as unique as they come. We will be celebrating at Olympus Event center 4591 Vista Fuente Rd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114 Friday April 12th at 11:30am to 3pm. In leu of flowers please donate to the Animal Humane Society or There With Care Joilene’s memory.
