Jon "Casey" Cason Caughman
December 31st, 1985 - February 23rd, 2017
To the many friends and family of Jon Cason "Casey" Caughman, it is with earthly sadness and heavenly joy to inform you that Casey has gone to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Casey was born on December 31, 1985 in Beaufort, South Carolina to Lonnie and Jeannie Mathis Caughman. He lived his life with just enough free spirit to enjoy all that each day had to offer. He died peacefully at home February 23, 2017 after a six plus year battle with cancer. He was a lifetime member of Lebanon United Methodist Church in Eastover. His marriage in 2014 to Caroline Hulett was the first ceremony to be held in the new sanctuary at the church. He attended Satchel Ford Elementary school, Thomas Sumter Academy where he played varsity football for four years and graduated from in 2004, and Newberry College where he was an active member of Theta Chi fraternity. He graduated from Surry Community College in December 2015 with degrees in Enology and Viticulture. He worked at Linville Falls Winery for a short time as the winemaker prior to a change in his diagnosis. He described himself as a "Lucky Man" and cherished family, friends, music, sports and his dog. He was a very brave young man with a kind heart and welcoming spirit. Jon is survived by his parents, Lonnie and Jeannie Caughman; his beloved grandmother, Martha G. Caughman; an uncle that loved him like a brother, Sam Caughman; uncle John (Anne) Mathis; aunt Kay Mathis (Harold) Gear; his dog, Yeti; and extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Archie L. Caughman and his grandmother Selma D. Mathis. The family will receive friends at Lebanon United Methodist Church, 10220 Garners Ferry Rd, Eastover, SC 29044 on Sunday, February 26, 2017 from 1:30PM - 2:30PM with funeral services following at 2:30PM in the church. Interment will be at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lebanon United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family would like to thank all of the friends and family who supported Casey during this trying time, his Lebanon United Methodist Church family, MUSC and SCOA. Family and friends may sign the online guest book at www.thompsonsfuneral.com .

We Entrusted Jon Caughman's Care To
Greenlawn Memorial Park
Greenlawn Memorial Park is one of Columbia's most historic perpetual care cemeteries. This gorgeous setting combines serenity, natural beauty, and diligent care for generations of families. North Lake, located in the center of our park, offers a water feature and is the site of many local events, including an annual Easter sunrise service, a Greenlawn tradition for over 50 years. The park also has a veteran's section, private family estates, a columbarium with niches for cremated remains, and an incredible granite mausoleum....
