Kent Heber May 25, 1941 - December 27, 2016 Kent Heber, 75, passed away peacefully December 27, 2016 at his home in Lakewood, Colorado. Kent was born in Wallace, ID and grew up in Coeur d†™Alene, ID. He worked as a lumberjack at his family†™s business, Bear Creek Lumber, in the forests of northern Idaho. After attending Northern Idaho Junior College and Idaho State University, he moved to Colorado in 1966 where he met his wife, Karen Stoiber Heber. They were married on June 24, 1967, in Boulder, Colorado. Kent established American Fire Systems selling and installing fire protection systems nationwide for over 30 years. Kent resided in the Two Creeks Neighborhood of Lakewood since 1968 where he and Karen designed and built their home on Lakewood Country Club. One of Kent†™s favorite places was his garage where he spent numerous hours engineering and creating furniture and sculpture. Kent enjoyed camping, going for drives, traveling and spending time with his family. His family was the center of his life. Kent†™s biggest source of pride was his daughters and their families who he enjoyed celebrating their accomplishments and helping with projects around their homes. He attended numerous sporting and school events cheering on his grandchildren with his easily recognized loud strong voice. Kent was Karen†™s biggest fan, encouraging and assisting her with her art shows, framing and gallery hangings. Chauffeuring Karen through the countryside and mountains to get subjects for her watercolors was always an adventure. He was especially interested in wood working, collecting antique woodworking tools and creating contemporary steel and wood sculpture. He spent a lifetime designing and building fine furniture. Later in life he turned that passion to creating contemporary sculptures in steel and wood, winning first place in sculpture in the 2014 Glenwood Springs Fall Art Festival. He is survived by his beloved family: wife Karen, children Layne (Chris) Webber and Leigh (Paul) Jesaitis, his grandchildren Zach, Ali, Riley and Kelsey, his brother Duane (Colleen) Heber, many nieces and nephews and numerous lifelong friends. There will be an open house celebration in honor of Kent on Saturday, January 7th from 2-4pm at his home in Lakewood. (For address please contact his family at [email protected] ) In lieu of flowers contributions in Kent†™s name may be made to The Action Center http://theactioncenterco.org
