Jon Charles Potterf

August 14th, 1937 - February 5th, 2024

On Monday, February 5, 2024, Jon C Potterf, Lifetime resident of Eugene, Oregon passed away peacefully in his sleep.  Jon was 86 years old.  He suffered from dementia.

Jon was born August 14, 1937 to Charles and Esther Potterf in Eugene.  He had three brothers (Bob, Bill & Jim).  They grew up in the Hendricks Park area of Eugene.  He told stories of growing up in the area in the 40’s, and the fun they had riding bikes, swimming, and doing all the fun things boys did in those days.

In 1948 his father started Eugene Radiator Service, and in the early 1980’s he and his brother, Jim, became partners in the business.

In Jon’s early 70’s he loved to hike and bike all over town.  He even hiked Mt Pisgah and Spencers Butte several times & would ride up to 20 miles on the bike paths around Eugene.  His favorite activity, however, was spending time with his beloved family.  Jon had three children, Rick Potterf (Cindy), Randy Potterf (Sonja), and Lori Burke (Ron).  He had three grandchildren (Kelsi, Nate, and Katherine), and 5 great grandchildren.

Jon had married Norma Louise (Barker) in 1958.  Even though they divorced some years later, and both remarried, they remained close friends and would often have joint holiday and birthday celebrations with the kids and Grand-kids.

Jon’s ashes will be buried in a "Living Urn".  He will be buried in his favorite place in the Cascades with a Pine seedling in his honor.  The date TBA in late Spring to honor his life. We miss you already.  See you on the other side Dad.
