Jon Tucker Wade
December 29th, 1943 - October 18th, 2017
Jon Tucker Wade, 73, passed away October 18, 2017 in Lacey, Washington, following many years of fighting both heart and kidney diseases. He was born December 29, 1943 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Clayton and Alba Wade. Jon was raised in Oklahoma City, graduating from Northeast High School in 1962 and Oklahoma City University in 1966. Jon then served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam (1966-1970), much of that stationed at the U.S. Naval Communication Station in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was honorably discharged and started a family in Houston, Texas, while working for Fiat’s auto transportation group. He transferred to Orange County, California, with Fiat and soon began his career as an Insurance Broker servicing credit unions in Orange County and the Inland Empire. After 20 years, Jon sold his business and retired to pursue the good life. He had a passion for golf; he enjoyed playing it (at times with top pros), watching it, and was dedicated to supporting amateur golf. After years of volunteering as a Marshall, Jon served as a Tournament Chair for the Nissan Los Angeles Open in 1992. In 1993, he became President of the Pub Links Golf Association of Southern California and established its junior golfer scholarship in 1996. Jon enjoyed retirement, living in his dream home with his family on the Red Hawk Golf Course in Temecula, California, and was a member of the Temecula Creek Men’s Golf Club. He also was an avid card player; his daughters recall many nights playing go fish, crazy eights, and gin. Most recently, he played bridge with a group he helped organize at the Woodland Retirement Community where he lived in Lacey, Washington. Jon is survived by his daughters, Jennifer (Paul) Pospishek of San Jose, California, Rebecca (Jim) Robert of Olympia, Washington, and Kaitlyn Wade of Los Angeles, California; and four grandchildren, Ashley (Jeff) Eaton of Puyallup, Washington, Kylie Pelzel and Willow Robert of Olympia, Washington, and Claire Pospishek of San Jose, California. He is also survived by his brother, William Wade of Guthrie, Oklahoma; sister, Chloe Ann Roberts of Edmond, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews. Please leave memories of Jon or condolences for his family in the Guestbook below.
