Jonathan J. Cooper

Town of Edinburg, NY—Jonathan J. Cooper, 37, of North Shore Road, passed away on Saturday evening, January 7, 2017, in the Town of Edinburg. Born June 19, 1979 in Amsterdam, New York, he was the son of Janet Goch Cooper and Donald Cooper. He was a 1997 graduate of Fonda- Fultonville Central School. Jonathan continued his education at FMCC where he received an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts, Jonathan then attended SUNY Albany where he was a member of the AXP Alpha Chi Rho fraternity and graduated from SUNY Empire State College with a Bachelor Degree in Science and Information Technology. Jonathan was employed as an IT Engineer for Cerner Healthcare at Glens Falls Hospital. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his daughter, Kayleigh Cooper of Amsterdam; his parents Janet and Donald Cooper of Amsterdam; his brother, James Cooper of Amsterdam; cousins, Brian Goch, Michael Goch, Jennifer Goch (and children, Richard Altieri & Madeline Piurek), Patty (Michael) Marcucia, Michael (Wendy) Urban, Sherry (Phil) Kline ( and children Jeffrey & Kevin); an Aunt, Susan Goch; Aunt & Uncle, Claudia & Marlin Stanley; Great Aunt, Marilyn Pingitore; the newest addition to Jonathan's family, his beloved puppy "Bullet". He is also survived by an abundance of friends he considered family from the Great Sacandaga Lake area. He was predeceased by, an Uncle Richard Goch; Grandparents, Edward & Carrie Goch, Eleanor Leller & Clifford Cooper; and a Great Aunt, Lottie Kozlowski. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be held Friday, January 13, 2017, at 11:00 AM at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam with the Rev. O. Robert DeMartinis presiding. There will be no calling hours and all services will end at the funeral home. A gathering to follow will be announced at that time.
