Jorja M Winslett
November 15th, 1948 - September 13th, 2024
Jorja M. Winslett, 75, passed away peacefully on September 13th, 2024, in the presence of loved ones. She will be dearly missed, and it is with a heavy heart we share memories of her life. Jorja was born November 15th, 1948, in Wichita, Kansas to George and Marie Moore. She grew up challenging the rules, norms, and status quos of the times. She enjoyed reading, writing poetry, gardening, collecting antiques, and spending quality time with family in the beautiful Rocky Mountains. She was an incredible artist, and her love of music was far reaching across all genres. As a young adult she believed strongly in civil and women’s rights. She lived through the turbulent 60’s and early 70’s attending numerous rallies and marches advocating for the rights of all people.
Jorja attended East High School and went on to graduate from Central Business College in 1968 with a degree in business. It didn’t take long for her to discover that was not her calling. She went on to complete a degree in biology with an emphasis in human physiology in 1973. She successfully passed the board exams and became a registered/certified/licensed respiratory care practitioner. She stayed in that role for the next 31 years holding various management and director level positions across several healthcare platforms. In the 1990’s, she returned to school and received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Colorado. After watching the Information Technology industry boom, she continued her education and graduated with a master’s degree in computer information systems from Regis University in Denver, CO while concurrently obtaining her Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification. One of her most notable achievements was being part of the team who created the Wounded Warrior Project. After holding various consulting positions, she retired in December of 2021.
Jorja is preceded in death by her parents George and Marie Moore, her spouse Gordon Crater, her son Erik Winslett, and her nephew Joe Tripi. She is survived by her daughters Heather (Rebecca Kostelancik) Winslett of Broomfield, CO, Mary (David) Hickey of Broomfield, CO, Step-Daughter Pamela (Crater) Waterman of Grand Junction, CO; sisters Patricia (Steve) Mussat of Augusta, KS, Peggy Moore of Loveland, CO, and Jeannie Nims of Loveland, CO; grandchildren Katelyn Hickey of Broomfield, CO, Katie Winslett of Colorado Springs, CO, Dylan Cannon of Broomfield, CO, and Wyatt Waterman of Grand Junction, CO; nieces and nephew Karen Tebbs of Orem, UT, Jane Huynh of Provo, UT, Greg Tripi of Buffalo, NY, Nannette (Mark) Luczak of Lewiston, NY, Terry Tripi of Augusta, KS, and Bryon (Nicola) Strait of Loveland, CO.
