Jose Gamboa Anson

Jose Gamboa Anson of Las Vegas passed away on Monday, February 4, 2013 at the age of 87. Jose, Pepe or Joe as known to his family and friends, was born March 2, 1925 in the Philippines to the late Ramon Solano Anson and the late Elisa Gamboa Anson. Joe grew up in the Philippines and served as a Lieutenant in the Philippine Army alongside the Armed Forces of the United States. He graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Masters Degree in Industrial Management. He worked as a Corporate Executive for IBM Southeast Asia for 30 years. Joe lived in several countries in Asia, moved to San Francisco, CA in 1977 then to Las Vegas, NV in 1999. Joe was a loving husband, doting father and grandfather, and a true friend. He was a phenomenal cook and treated his family and friends to many wonderful meals. In his younger days, he was a black belt in judo, a golfer, and tennis player. Joe is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Magdalena Picornell Anson; three daughters Butchie (Kenneth) Rebong of Los Gatos CA, Marie-Lou (William) Godinez of Rancho Santa Margarita CA and Maris (Bob) DeValle of Napa CA; grandchildren Jappy, Mikey, Nicole (Andrew), Alexa, Michael, Danielle, Matthew and Megan; and siblings Angelita, Cesar, Clarie, and Luis. A mass will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jose's memory may be made to the National Shrine of St. Jude Claretian Missionaries, 205 W. Monroe St., Chicago IL 60606.
