Jose Luis (Louie) Covarrubias went to meet the Lord on Friday October 4th after a tragic accident. He was 53. He was a larger than life person with a huge smile and enourmous contagious laugh. He had been a handyman for over 20 years. Louie could fix anything from a broke down car to a leaky roof to a broken computer. An avid Raider fan, he would stop watching his games if anyone needed help. His favorite thing to do was hang out with family and especially spending time with his mom. Jose Luis is survivied by his parents, Guadalupe and Carmen (Margarita) Covarrubias, his sons, Ramon Covarrubias and Joseph Covarrubias, his daughters, Crystal and Brittany Covarrubias and Valerie Covarrubias-Marz. His brothers, Arturo, Rene and Angel Covarrubias, his sisters, Lupe (Joey) Martinez, Pat (Mike) Flores-Campos, and Rosa (Juan) Rodriguez and his grandchildren, Brianna, Roman, Alondra, Alexandria, Drina, Jaden, Lillyana, Leah, and Laiyla. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 14, 2013 1-9pm with a Rosary vigil at 7pm, all at Healey Mortuary 405 N. Sanborn Rd. Salinas, CA 93905. A Celebration Mass will take place on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10am at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church 22 Stone St. Salinas, CA 93901. Burial to follow services at the Queen of Heaven Cemetery 18200 Damian Way Salinas, CA 93907.

Healey Mortuary

At Healey, we treat our Salinas Valley community members like family. Our story begins after World War II when Veteran Herbert C. Healey hoped to find a way to continue to meaningfully help his county and community grow. He and his wife founded Salinas Valley Mortuary in 1956 to help serve the families in the Salinas Valley area. Their lifelong mission was to unselfishly serve area families based on their strong, trusting relationship with their community – something we honor to this day almost seven decades years later....
