Jose Javier Marcial
October 4th, 1947 - November 13th, 2017
Jose Javier Marcial, son of Carmen and Francisco Marcial, was born October 4, 1947 in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. He passed away peacefully on Monday, November 13, at 5:55 pm surrounded by his family. Jose is survived by his wife, Ofelia Marcial; his son Jose (Amy) and their two sons Jake and Trevor; daughter Jazmin Rodriguez (Frank) and their three children Sabrina, Frank, and Nicolas; and daughter Judith Marcial (Eric Eckhardt) and their two daughters Priscilla and Alyza. Jose also leaves behind a great granddaughter, two brothers, five sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews, which he was fortunate to have at his bedside during his final days. Jose served in the U.S. Army. He loved his time in Germany. Jose shared many stories about his time in the military and the amazing areas that he was fortunate to visit. He was very proud of his service. Jose spent his next 20 plus years working in different capacities at Greyhound Bus Lines. He was dedicated, hardworking, and built many friendships that continued until his passing. After his time with Greyhound, Jose worked for the State of California until his retirement in 2010. He was revered by the people that worked with him. His hard work and dedication that he developed while in the U.S. Army was always on display. Jose had a passion for music, especially The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. One of the highlights of his life was being able to attend The Rolling Stones concert at Petco Park with his son. Jose went from listening to his favorite music on eight tracks and vinyl records to jamming his favorite CDs while driving his car. Jose also had a passion for baseball that began as a young boy, playing on the fields of Tijuana and continuing until the summer of his 70th year. Friendships that Jose made on the baseball field as a child in Tijuana were still an integral part of his baseball life in his later years. Even after being diagnosed with liver cancer, one of the first questions he asked his doctor was if he could continue playing baseball. Cancer was not going to take his passion for baseball. He now smiles down on us from a baseball diamond in Heaven. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 24th at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Bonita at 450 Corral Canyon Road. The service will begin at 11:45 followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm at the Miramar National Cemetery.
