Jose Antonio Ramirez

Our dear friend Jose was born in New York, NY on Aug. 27 1929. He left us to be with our Lord and Savior on Mar. 14 2016. He was 87 years old. Although born into poverty, his life was rich in the experiences of which he often eloquently spoke. As a toddler, Jose was placed in an orphanage after the death of his mother Juanita Dejesus. It wasnt until his forties, that fate intervened when he met his mothers family. His life adventures included; serving in the US Army during the Korean War and as a professional butler in Beverley Hills for over twenty years. Jose was quite accomplished, having overcome drug addiction, he was self-taught in Gardening and Interior design. His skill at both was evident if you ever had the opportunity to visit his Oakbrook home. Jose also operated a Limousine service in Tacoma with his good friend Dick Recancia (deceased) during the late 70s. During his latter years, Jose found the Lord and was saved. His many friends at the Lakewood Kingdom Hall helped him with his journey and guided him through their teaching. It is very hard to sum up ones life in a paragraph but one word that would best describe Jose is Social. He had a sincere interest in people and wanted to know everything about them. He often imparted wisdom and told tales of his life that remain memorable to those lucky enough to have received them. His intoxicating laugh and exuberance will be missed by all. Jose is survived by Cousins Janice, Lucy, Steven, Gina, Joseph, Jennifer, Derrick, D.J., Jaleesa, Tiffany and Maria of Virginia, Florida and New York. He is also survived by many friends at the Kingdom Hall, James and Jean W., Roland D. and Zelda Park and family, all of Tacoma. We would like to thank the wonderful staff and nurses of Kindred and Franciscan Hospice for taking such wonderful care of Jose during his final months. Jose's ashes will be interred in Virginia in a private ceremony. Until we meet again dear friend, please watch over us.
