Joseph Henry Anthony IV
August 2nd, 1924 - November 29th, 2015
Dr. Joseph H. Anthony IV, 91, died on November 29, 2015 at home under the care of Hospice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frannie Dina Anthony and son Joseph H. Anthony V. He is survived by daughters, Dina Goodrich (Don), Dotty Clock (Craig), wife Shirlene Anthony, daughters Stephanie Hunt (Greg), Sherra Griffis (Doug), and Shannon Coven (John); son Walter Shirey (Lisa); seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Joe was born in Cape May, New Jersey on August 2, 1924 and was a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame of Lower Camden County Regional High School. He served proudly as an Army medic in World War II. Joe graduated from Rider University, earned his Master's Degree at Rutgers University and earned his Doctorate of Education at Nova University. He was part of the initial faculty of Boca Ciega High School and taught at St. Petersburg College. Joe retired in 1986 as Executive Superintendent for Business of Pinellas County Schools. He was a devoted husband and father and a loving grandfather. Joe was a member of Azalea Baptist Church, where he was an ordained deacon and served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. A Memorial service will be held at Azalea Baptist Church, 7900 - 22nd Avenue North, St. Petersburg, on Saturday, December 5 at 11:00a.m., followed by a reception in the Fellowship Hall. Donations may be made to Suncoast Hospice or Azalea Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
