Joseph Allen Archambault II
April 7th, 1954 - October 26th, 2021
Joseph Allen Archambault II, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, was born on April 7, 1954 in Albuquerque, New Mexico where he settled in mid-life after years in California and Oregon. Joseph passed away on October 26th after a short illness at age 67. He lived with his wife of 44 years, Leslie, in Los Lunas, New Mexico. The two were high school sweethearts and the parents of 6 boys. Joey was also known as “Big Joey” by family members, a nickname that took after the birth of his first son, also his namesake, who was known as first “Baby,” then “Little Joey.” Joey was a connoisseur of rock music and a talented musician and guitarist in his own right. He was known for hosting jam sessions and recording music and wore his hair long throughout life. He had influential musical tastes that he passed on to his friends and family. His sons appreciated learning guitar and being introduced to rock from an early age. As well, Joey was an accomplished culinary artist, celebrated for his impeccable precision when it came to ingredients and cooking. As a teen and youngster, he was a noted baseball player. Joey was an early adopter of computers when they first arrived on the scene and taught his children how to code. He was a proficient horse racing handicapper having grown up near Santa Anita Park. He owned and cared for an array of animals when space allowed, including horses, and for a time, a boa constrictor. He was a longtime postal worker before he retired. Joey was known for his intelligence and generosity--when he worked at a care facility, he showed particular kindness to one resident who he would bring to holiday gatherings. He was the host of frequent family parties and remained incredibly close to his 5 siblings throughout his life. Though he had a generally quiet demeanor, he always wore a kind expression that held a soft smile. Joey will be dearly missed by all. Joey is preceded in death by his son Joseph Allen Archambault III, as well as his parents, Margaret Archambault and Patrick Archambault. He is survived by his wife Leslie; children Abe (Grissy), Jacob, Adam, Sam, and Ben, as well as, daughter Katie, and 8 grandchildren; siblings David Dufault (Val), Diane Dufault, Pattie Gokey (Frank), Debbie Glaess (Mark), and Kipp Archambault (Patti), as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
