Joseph Cyril Burnett
January 24th, 1923 - December 24th, 2017
JOSEPH C. BURNETT, age 94 of Jefferson passed away December 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born on January 24, 1923 in Berwyn, Illinois to Walter and Marie (Ganser) Burnett. He married Virginia Ambrose on May 30, 1949 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Joseph served in the United States Army from 1942-1945, he recently was able to participate in the Honor Flight with his son Michael. Joe worked at the Borg Textile Factory and retired in 1984. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and was known as a pretty sharp Sheepshead player. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Parish. Joe is survived by his wife Virginia Burnett of Jefferson. Daughters Rosemarie (Robert) Hooper of Owasso, MI, Judy (Gary) Smith of Cambridge, Suzanne (Lynn) Topel of Jefferson. Sons Wayne (Romona) Burnett of Johnson Creek, Richard (Susie) Burnett of Littleton, CO, Kenneth (Pam) Burnett of Jefferson, Steven (Shari) Burnett, Michael (Pam) Burnett of Appleton. 25 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren. He is also preceded in death by his parents and one brother Thomas Burnett. Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 30, 2017 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson with the Rev. Thomas Coyle presiding. Burial will follow the Mass.
