Joseph DiScioscia Jr., age 76, of Gloversville passed away peacefully on Sunday February 21, 2010 at Nathan Littauer Nursing Home in Gloversville. He was born in Gloversville, NY on May 13, 1933 the son of the late Joseph and Jane Perna DiScioscia. Joseph served his country proudly in the United States Army where he attained the rank of corporal from 1952 to 1953. On June 25, 1977 Joseph married Joan Andrews DiScioscia, they shared 32 years united in marriage. Joseph loved classic country music and fishing, as well as the warm weather and being outdoors. He was a very strong, dedicated individual as well as a hard worker. Joseph loved his cats: Magic, Angel, Baby, Mercy and Asia. Most of all Joseph was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife Joan, Joseph is survived by a son, Joey DiScioscia III Ellen of Gloversville; three daughters, Jolene Oates William of Gloversville, Tina DiScioscia of Gloversville and Donna Doran of Gloversville; a stepdaughter, Bonnie Marino of Caroga Lake and nine grandchildren. Additional survivors include, four brothers, Sam DiScioscia Joyce, Rudy Viola Molly, John DiScioscia and Danny Whitman Doris and two sisters, Jane Sleezer and Jean Ferrara. Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, Richard DiScioscia and a sister, Sophie Ottuso. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Prospect Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Bonnie Orth officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to S.O.C.K.S., P.O. Box 972, Gloversville, NY 12078.
