Joseph F. Gioe
May 15th, 1922 - February 22nd, 2005
Gioe, Joseph F. ?Joe?, Col. USA Ret, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday February 22, 2005 after 33 years of military service. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a graduate of Syracuse University and a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He came here in 1975 after his retirement from Fort Lee, Virginia, where he was a Deputy Commandant of the Army Logistics Management Center. His tours of duty included Germany, Japan, Korea and Hawaii. He commanded the US Army Procurement Agency in Vietnam and DCAS in Springfield, NJ. After retirement, he was active with the Broadwaters Civic Association, the St. Petersburg Police Review Committee, and the Pinellas County Republican Executive Committee. He was a member of the American Legion and DAV. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; a son Steven and daughter, Lauren, both of St. Petersburg, and a brother, Peter Gioe, Surprise, AZ. A son Joseph F. Jr. and daughter Linda predeceased him.
