Joseph Charles Glasser

Joseph Charles Glasser, “Joe”, passed away peacefully on January 15, 2020 with family by his side, at the age of 72. His family and friends will always remember Joe for his kindness, wisdom, and humor. Joe is survived by his six children, eleven grandchildren, and expecting one great grandchild: His daughter Renee Millette, son-in-law Eric, and their children Andrew (Oklahoma), Brandon, and Travis of Reno, NV; Alicia Koen, son-in-law Brian, and their children Josh (California), Taylor, and Madelyn of Apple Valley, MN; Son Matt Tebeau and his child Noah of Burnsville, MN; Son Clay Corderman, daughter-in-law Michelle, and their children Colton and Caden of Santee, CA; Daughter Ashley Hight and her children Emily and Audrey of Santee, CA; Son Charlie Height of La Mesa, CA. He also leaves behind his sister Marianne Miller, brother-in-law Gene, and their children Dennis and Jenice of Carson, CA; Brother Tommy Glasser, sister-in-law Jane, and their kids John and Nicole Carson, CA. He also leaves behind his beloved Chihuahua, Lola, that he adored. Joe was always supportive of his family giving more than expected with kindness and love going beyond words. His kindness and love carried many through tough times. He always supported and encouraged his family to set and pursue their goals. Joe was the patriarch of the family making sure everyone stayed connected by sharing family news. He expressed his pride in personal relationships, careers, school, and sports of his family and friends. This showed how deep he loved and the genuine character, that made him the person so many others loved. Joe was known as being a great conversationalist and friendly person. He could know the intimate details of anyone after meeting them for the first time. His family and friends respected the wisdom Joe shared, which helped them make wise choices and helped shape their futures. He was a mentor to many. Conversations with Joe allowed others to work through tough times and celebrate accomplishments and goals that were met. Joe believed in enjoying a good meal with family and friends. These meals and gatherings allowed people to get close to Joe, share stories, and most of all share laughter. Anyone who was fortunate enough to be part of a meal or gathering with Joe was able to experience his wisdom, kindness,and humor. His laughter and smile will be held close to heart for all that knew Joe. Joe was born on August 17, 1947 in Spangler, Pennsylvania to John and Mary Glasser. Joe moved from Pennsylvania to Carson City, CA when he was 12. Joe enlisted in the Navy after high school and did a tour in Vietnam. Joe continued to serve proudly in the United States Navy and retired a Senior Chief after a full and rewarding Naval career. He continued to support the Military and his country by working for Martin-Baker Aircraft Company as the West Coast Representative. He supported the military Air Wings for ejection seats. Joe always kept connections that he made after retiring from the Navy and Martin Baker. His goal was always safety and saving lives of military members in his Navy and Martin Baker careers. He had many connections through his service and cherished his Military and professional family. He was known as as mentor, resource of knowledge, and friend in this community. Joe received his BS from Southern Illinois University. He was a lifelong supporter of San Diego State University where he attended after his tour of duty in Vietnam. He had a passion for SDSU sports and held season tickets to SDSU football games for over 30 years. He enjoyed going to games with family and friends. He continued to support SDSU even when he could no longer attend games. Joe could always be seen wearing SDSU attire, watching the SDSU football, and basketball games. Joe was involved in his community throughout his life. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He supported youth sports such as, Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, youth basketball, and youth soccer. Joe did this by coaching, volunteering as a board member, and a player agent. He could also be seen at games and practices supporting his children and grandchildren. These times will always hold special memories with family and friends. A funeral service, and celebration of life is scheduled for February 3, 2020 at Legacy Funeral Home 4pm - 8pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joe's life. The burial service is being performed on February 4, 2020 10 am at the Miramar National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your local VFW or the Wounded Warriors Project.
