Joseph Hess
February 7th, 1935 - April 29th, 2011
Biography Kernersville-Joseph Franklin Hess, 76, went home to be with his Lord April 29, 2011. Funeral Services celebrating his life will be held 2:00PM Tuesday May 3, 2011 at Main Street United Methodist Church where he and his family were members with Dr. Jeff Patterson officiating. Inurnment will be at later date in the new church columbarium. A native of Boissevain, Virginia, he was the son of the late Helen Virginia Phipps and Luther Hamilton Hess. He served his country with the US Navy. Mr. Hess was retired from Eastern Airlines. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner, and a member of the Scottish Rite. In addition to his parents, he also was preceded in death by a son Joseph Anthony Hess. Survivors include his loving wife Barbara Ann Chunko Hess of the home; daughter Cathy Brown and Paul of Kernersville; sons David Hess and Pam of Greensboro, and Michael Hess of Kernersville; grandchildren Amanda Hess, Nathan Dollarhite, Jessika Hess, and Meghan Dollarhite; great-grandson Kameron Hess; sister Louise Gibson of Rocky Gap, Virginia; brother James Hess and Pam of Bluefield, Virginia; and a nephew Bobby Joe Gibson and Pam of Bluefield, Virginia. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the church.
