Joseph Claude Hurst died May 23, 2018 in Satellite Beach, Florida. Joe was born on May 7, 1936 to Bernard J. Hurst (1902-1978) and Florine (Sliger) Hurst (1903-1995) in Rushville, Indiana. Following his service in the United States Air Force, Joe spent his career as a civil servant of the United States government. Joe actively participated in the communities he found himself. He served as President of Pee Wee Football in Hurst, Texas; President of Kiwanis International in Elwood, Indiana; and was a life-long member of Masonic Lodge 91 in New Castle, Indiana. Joe also served the RCIA of St. Michael Catholic Church in Bedford, Texas with his wife Sharon. Joe is survived by Sharon, his wife of 58 years; sisters Rosemary, Sarah, and Marjorie; children Robin, Robert, and John; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A Memorial Mass will be held August 16, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community, 3050 N. Highway A1A, Indialantic, FL 32903 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America: www.alzfdn.org.
