Joseph “Joe” D. Sames, 87, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2023. The husband of Shirley Baldwin Sames, Joe was born February 3, 1936, to the late Walter and Hallie Wise Sames in Versailles, Kentucky. He was an active member of Midway Baptist Church. In addition to his loving wife, Shirley Baldwin Sames, Joe leaves behind his sons, Jeffery A. (Michelle) Sames of Maysville and Kevin B. (Karen-Tingle) Sames of Georgetown; a sister, Betty Ann Allison of Midway; grandchildren, Nathan and Quinn Sames, as well as several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Hallie Wise Sames; a sister, Dorothy Mullikin; and his brothers, Edward Sames, James W. Sames, William Sames, Paul Sames, and Raymond Sames. A Funeral Service will be held 1:00pm on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at Clark Legacy Center, 3000 Versailles Rd, Frankfort, KY, with Rev. Jeffery Sames and Rev. Evan Rowe officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens with Steve Sames, Matt McCall, Bill Mullikin, Earl Snow, Chuck Logan, Ray Sames, and Dr. Edward Sames serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Wm Childers, Rex Payne, Charles Logan, Bobby Allison, S.S. Class, Mark Thomas, and Michael Thomas. A special thanks to all his caregivers that labored with love to help make his last days more comfortable. Visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. The family suggests Memorial Contributions to Midway Baptist Church, 121 S Winter Street, Midway, KY 40347.
